Khams Folk Songs and Fables
Folk songs are a common genre in Tibetan areas and are sung by men and women in both agricultural and pastoral areas. Lyrics and melodies differ between Khams and A mdo. In the Sichuan parts of Khams, this genre is sung to farewell guests (folk song 1) and to praise one‘s hometown (folk song 2).
The singer of the first folk song learnt it from a villager; it was sung to a man who helped the village to develop agriculture when he was leaving the village. The lyric goes as following; Snow on the mountain melts, but will return in the winter. Flowers die, but will come back in the spring. I am leaving, but I will be back in three years. So do not be sad!” The second song was taught to the singer by a monk who wrote the lyrics.
Besides folk songs, Tibetan tradition is rich in fables that teach morality to children. This fable was recorded in Siyuewu Village, Puxi Township, Rangtang County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. This fable in Larvung dialect and emphasizes the importance of having a good heart and repaying one‘s gratitude to people who have helped you.

དམངས་གླུ་ནི་བོད་ཁུལ་དུ་དར་ཁྱབ་ཆེས་ཆེ་བའི་གླུའི་རིགས་ཤིག་ཡིན་ཞིང་རོང་འབྲོག་གྲོང་གསུམ་དུ་ཕོ་མོ་ཁྱད་མེད་དུ་ལེན་པ་ཡིན། ཡིནའང་ཚིག་དང་དབྱངས་རྟ་ལ་མདོ་དབུས་ཁམས་གསུམ་སོ་སོར་རང་རང་གི་ཁྱད་ཆོས་མངོན་པར་གསལ་ཞིང་། ཟི་ཁྲོན་ཁམས་ཕྱོགས་སུ་གླུ་འདིའི་རིགས་ནི་མགྲོན་པོར་སྐྱེལ་མ་བྱེད་སྐབས་དང་རི་ཆུ་ནགས་གསུམ་ལ་བསྟོད་གླུ་འབུལ་དུས་ལེན་པ་ཞིག་རེད།
གླུ་ཐོག་མ་དེ་ནི་གླུ་བ་དེས་སྡེ་མི་གཞན་ཞིག་གི་ངག་ནས་བསླབས་ཤིང་སྡེ་བ་དེར་ཞིང་རྨོ་སྟོན་སྡུད་ཀྱི་ལས་ཀ་ལས་རོགས་བྱེད་མྱོང་བའི་མི་ཞིག་ལ་སྐྱེལ་མ་བྱེད་དུས་བླངས་པ་ཞིག་ཡིན་པར་གྲགས། གླུ་ཚིག་ནི་གཤམ་གསལ་ལྟར།

བོད་དམངས་ཁྲོད་དུ་དམངས་གླུ་ཙམ་མ་ཟད་ད་དུང་མི་རབས་ནས་མི་རབས་བར་དུ་ངག་ཐོག་ནས་བརྒྱུད་ཡོང་བའི་གཏམ་རྒྱུད་ཀྱང་ཕུན་སུམ་ཚོགས་པས་ན།འདིར་ཟི་ཁྲོན་ཞིང་ཆེན་ཛམ་ཐང་རྫོང་་ནས་བསྡུས་པའི་གཏམ་རྒྱུད་ཅིག་ཀྱང་བཀོད་ཡོད་ལ།གཏམ་རྒྱུད་འདི་ནི་ས་དེའི་ལབ་རིང་ཁ་སྐད་ཀྱི་ལམ་ནས་འཆད་འདུག་ཅིང་ནང་དོན་ནི་བཀའ་དྲིན་དྲན་པ་དང་དྲིན་ལན་འཇལ་བའི་སྐོར་རེད།
民谣是适宜任何人歌唱的曲目，并且在农牧区都广为流传。它的曲调以及歌词在康巴和安多地区也是不尽相同的。在四川康巴地区，这种歌曲通常会在送别客人（如歌曲1）和赞扬家乡时吟唱（如歌曲2）。
第一首民谣的演唱者是从自己村子里一位村民那里学会的这首歌，歌曲是唱给一位曾经帮助过村民提高农业而即将离去的人。歌词大意为：“山上的积雪化了可是来年冬天会再回来；花儿都凋谢了，可是春天花会再开；我就要离开了，可是三年后我将再回来，所以请不要为我伤悲。”演唱者是从这首歌的作词人，一位僧侣口中学会的这首歌曲。
除民谣外，藏族传统中的寓言故事也对孩子们起着相当大的教育作用。此处的寓言故事是在四川省阿坝州壤塘县浦西乡四月无村录制的。寓言是由Larvung方言录制并强调了乐善好施，乐于助人的美德。
