Sichuan Religious Songs
In the past, Tibetan Buddhism was a major social force in Tibetan society, and so it is not surprising to note that religious songs emerged as a song genre.Such songs were sung mostly by men, though women were not prevented from singing them. This genre was popularly sung at the beginning and the end of an occasion so as to bless participants with future happiness and success and, however in some areas it was sung during rituals to make offerings to mountain deities. These religious songs are mostly sung by men due the Buddhistic concept of favouring man rather than woman; it is thought that women’s menstruation makes them unclean and relegates them to a lower social position.
བོད་འདི་ཆོས་ས་ཆོས་ཡུལ་ཞིག་ཡིན་པས་ན་ཆོས་ལ་བསྟོད་པ་དང་ཆོས་དང་འབྲེལ་བའི་གླུ་མང་པོ་ཞིག་ཡོད་ཅིང་།དེ་ནི་གཙོ་བོ་སྐྱེས་པ་དག་གིས་ལེན་པ་ཡིན་ཞིང་བུད་མེད་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་ཀྱང་མཚམས་ལན་རེར་ལེན་པ་ཡིན།གླུ་འདིའི་རིགས་ནི་རྟེན་འབྲེལ་དང་བཀྲ་ཤིས་འཇོག་པའི་ཚུལ་དུ་དགའ་སྟོན་དང་འདུ་འཛོམས་སོགས་ཀྱི་མགོ་མཇུག་ཏུ་ལེན་པ་ཡིན་ཞིང་ས་ཆ་ལ་ལར་གཞི་བདག་ལ་མཆོད་པའི་ཆོ་ག་སོགས་ཀྱི་སྐབས་སུ་ཡང་ལེན་པ་ཡིན། འདིའི་ནང་དུ་བཏུས་པའི་གླུ་རྣམས་ནི་སྐྱེས་པ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་བླངས་པ་ཤ་སྟག་གོ།
一直以来，受到在藏区起着主导力量的佛教文化的影响，宗教歌曲的相应出现也不足为奇。这样的歌曲大多由男子吟唱，但是妇女也可以。普遍在仪式场合的开始和结束时唱来祈祷参与者未来的幸福和事业的成功。不过，在有些地方唱来祭祀山神。
