Working song may be sung when people are building adobe walls and harvesting. This genre is generally sung antiphonally by men and women, and is found in most Tibetan areas; however, it is most common in agricultural areas.
Working songs are learnt by listening and imitating others while working communally. The songs presented here praise the tools for building walls and compare the crops to precious gold and silver. Currently, work songs are highly endangered, due to the increasing mechanization of work – it is extremely rare to hear such songs even in the remotest Tibetan villages today.
